High School Students

English as a Second Language

Our ESL program will help you with reading, writing, grammar, speaking, listening, pronunciation, workplace skills, computer literacy and citizenship preparation.

Day and night classes are offered throughout Ottawa for New Canadians, Landed Immigrants, Refugees, and Refugee Claimants.

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

Funded by the Government of Canada through Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the LINC program is offered to adults 18 years and older who are permanent residents or convention refugees.

This program helps Newcomers to Canada participate in Canadian society by providing language training, settlement skills and basic pre-employment skills.

Adult Learning & Skills Development

Employment training programs that will help you improve your communication, reading, writing, math and basic computer skills. Here is what we offer:

  • Prepares you for high school credit programs and Advanced education and employment. 
  • Develop your reading, writing and math skills.
  • Learn and upgrade your basic computer and technology skills.
  • Improve your interpersonal communication skills.
  • Increase your confidence in daily tasks, finances and community involvement.

St. Nicholas Adult High School

St. Nicholas Adult High School provides a flexible e-learning model in order for learners (18+ years) to succeed in their high school credit courses.

Adult learners can earn their high school diploma, upgrade their current marks, be eligible for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) or Mature Student Evaluations, earn credits while working, and have access to academic, career and personal counselling.

Summer School

With a variety of course offerings and schools throughout Ottawa, our Summer School program is open to all Adult learners.

The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) Reach Ahead courses are open to all learners from all school boards. You don’t have to be an OCSB student to take advantage of these exciting summer learning opportunities.

All classes are conditional upon sufficient enrolment and are subject to cancellation or transfer to an alternate location. Students currently attending a high school must have their summer school registration approved by their home school.

International Languages Credit Program

All courses follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards a high school diploma. The courses are for eligible regular day school students and adults who are Ontario residents.

The program enables students to:

  • Prepare for post-secondary studies and careers in the fields of business, trade and communications. 
  • Foster global awareness and understanding.
  • Enhance student exchanges.
  • Develop training skills for international/global employment opportunities.
