The summer driver education program is run in conjunction with D.T.S.M. Driving School, a Ministry of Transportation Approved BDE Course Provider. The program combines in-class, at-home and in-car instruction in preparation for the Ontario G2 Driver’s Test. Successful completion of this program allows a reduction of the G1 license driving period and a possible insurance discount (check with your insurance company). |
Eligibility:
Open to all secondary school students in the Ottawa-Carleton Region. Students must be at least 16 years of age and have a G1 license prior to July 2, 2019.
Program:
Cost: $705.12 ($624 +HST) May be paid in 2 equal instalments of $352.56 |
Group in-car sessions take place throughout July & August. Students must be available ALL of July and August in order to complete the required hours in a group lesson format. In-car sessions are scheduled anytime during the day, evening up until 10 pm or Saturdays from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm and this schedule is determined between the two students and the instructor. The Driving School will accommodate scheduling for students working summer jobs ONLY.
The Driving School will try to accommodate all in-car sessions starting and ending at the student’s home school if there is sufficient registration. If not, the in-car sessions will start and end at the selected in-class school location. |

The Driver Education Program is offered 3 times during the year. Prices, dates & program details are subject to change from term-to-term. Check the website at the beginning of each registration period for up-to-date details for the pertinent session.
The summer program operates quite differently than the school year program. In-class sessions run for 1-week, full day and then in-car sessions run throughout July & August. Students must be available all of July & August in order to complete the in-car hours in a group-lesson format. In-class locations are only offered at approximately 5 school sites, however in-car pick-up and drop-off may be at the students’ home school provided there is sufficient enrolment.
